We’ve made some changes to how your patients will view (and select) the date and time for their appointment when they’re booking online.
It wasn’t always clear which highlighted date was “today” and which date had been “selected” when making a booking. These changes should help to clear things up—now it’s much more obvious as to what actual day the appointment is being booked for!
The ways things have changed are as follows:
The new “default view” for the calendar will be to not have any days selected. Previously, "today: would be outlined with a full border, and the next available time would be selected automatically. Now, nothing is quite as obviously highlighted, and the patient will need to select the day they wish to book for. View the old version on the left, and the new version on the right:
Similarily, if there are no appointments available in a certain month, the messaging is more clear that the patient needs to look at a different month. Check out the old version on the left, and the new version on the right:
Once a day is selected, the patient will have the option of deselecting it via the “X” in the upper-right above the times. See the old version on the left, and the new version on the right:
It was mentioned earlier, but the style of “today’s date” is more subtle. It no longer has a border around it; instead, it’s underlined. See the old version on the left, and the new version on the right:
Finally, we haven’t forgotten about the mobile experience! When a patient views the online bookings calendar on a mobile device, the “datepicker” is hidden as soon as a new date is picked—so the times are immediately visible (Previously, a patient would select a date, but not always know that they had to scroll down to see the times below the actual current date.) To get back to the date picker, all the patient needs to do is click that little “X”:
Let’s have a look at it in action! Here’s what the old version of selecting a time and date looked like:
